This is the first post of the new year, which has kicked off with quite a boost, as I head out to photograph a snow sports feature tomorrow, involving a night on the hill. A chilly start then. But the coolest news, which only enhances potential for 2014, is the investment in a Bowens studio lighting kit. For the last couple of years I’ve been using remote triggers on Nikon speedlights, which have done a great job, particularly when used with soft boxes and deflectors. But there comes a time to scale up, and 2014 is the year for it. This represents a significant expansion in the work I can undertake, and the creative potential of assignments, so expect some exciting portraits, editorial and commercial images to appear on this blog over the coming months. In the mean time, here’s one of my most recent commercial images, taken on location for promotion of the TRTL Travel Pillow, using my Nikon speedlights and pop-up studio. Images using the Bowens kit will be coming soon!
